Lucia is a business leader & strategic client specialist with a unique ability to build key client relationships & foster business development. Following Lucia’s graduation from the Academy of Business and Computer in 2004 (yes, it existed back then!), she went on to study at Columbia University and double majored in Economics and Italian Cultural Studies. Ironically, Lucia was able to continue sporting & supporting her BCA Field Team “Blue” as Columbia’s school color happens to be one in the same. Roar Lion Roar.
Lucia graduated from Columbia in 2008 and worked for the largest Global Asset Manager, BlackRock in NYC. During Lucia’s 4-year plus tenure at BlackRock, she helped advise pension fund clients with $2 billion or more in plan assets, working with some of the top clients at the firm. Lucia watched first hand in 2008 how the great recession impacted some of the largest national corporations and is proud to have been part of brilliant teams that helped craft managed strategies which overcame the crisis.
In the late fall of 2012, Lucia took a great risk in her career and became a founding member and core executive at the social media start-up technology firm, Sverve. Lucia dived into the start-up community as she completed the 500 Start-Ups accelerator program in Mountain View, California and helped take Sverve from zero revenue to a million dollars after the first year of discovering its product market fit. In February 2016, Sverve was acquired by Bloglovin’, where she is now managing a team of 10 and leading Pre/Post sales operations. Building teams and expanding successful revenue streams for companies is Lucia’s passion.
Outside of work, Lucia enjoys giving back to the NYC community, teaching dance classes to lower income children in LES and giving piano lessons to kids in her building. She is also an active alumna of Columbia University, serving on the Columbia Women in Business Board and mentoring students. Her passion for mentoring started at BCA in the SPARK program! In Lucia’s free time, she enjoys traveling and experiencing new adventures such as her recent trip exploring northern Spain and hiking along “El Camino De Santiago” – while she is fluent in Italian, she hopes to master Spanish and Portuguese! Lucia looks forward to playing a greater part in the BCA community and alumni organization in the upcoming months.
